HOW DOES STUDYPOOL WORK?
Studypool is a site where students can post academic questions. The student sets the budget and time limit for the question, and tutors can then bid on the questions. The student then picks a tutor to work with.
Some of the subjects tutors can answer questions on include chemistry, business and finance, accounting, physics, political science and more.
HOW MUCH CAN YOU EARN WITH STUDYPOOL?
Depending on the question, Studypool takes between 20-32.5% commission of the money you earn to help cover the costs of running the site. You keep the rest.
Some of the top earners make over $100,000 in a year.
Now here are the tips to get started making money on Studypool:
1. START ANSWERING SMALLER QUESTIONS TO BUILD A GOOD REPUTATION
When you first start off as a tutor, you basically have no reputation and are competing with established tutors who’ve answered thousands of questions and high ratings. Naturally, students are going to choose tutors they feel have the most knowledge to help answer their questions. (And as a new tutor that’s probably not going to be you.)
You, as a new tutor, have the challenge of building your reputation. And luckily, you can do this by answering smaller questions, like those with a low budget – think $5 and less. By answering questions with a low budget, or low number of bids, you’ll have a better chance of winning that question and building your reputation. This will increase your chances of winning bids on higher priced questions.
2. ANSWER QUESTIONS PERFECTLY
If you win a bid your next step is to introduce yourself to the student. If you need more details about their question be sure to ask.
Make sure to provide a complete answer to the question they have and make sure your work is 100% original. (Be sure to cite your sources if not. Plagiarism is not allowed.) If you answer questions perfectly right off the bat, you’ll be rewarded with badges that will help your tutor profile stand out. There’s a Rising Star badge specifically for newer tutors. This is a must have to gain work early on.
3. OUTSOURCE QUESTIONS YOU CAN’T ANSWER YOURSELF
If you’ve won a question you can’t actually answer or don’t have the time to, you can repost it and have another tutor answer it. Just make sure to set your time limit carefully and review the work so you can still deliver the answer to the student per their original requirements.
If you adjust the question price to be lower when you outsource, you essentially earn money for no work.
4. SUBMIT TO THE NOTEBANK
Another interesting way that Studypool allows its user to earn money is through the Studypool Notebank. With the Notebank, you can upload notes from classes and other study documents that students can purchase.
Getting a sale in the Notebank is not as easy as it sounds, it takes time and the right combination of different factors for your document to get noticed. For more tips on how to sell a document, you can refer to my video:
